- What I Love About My Small Home:
- There are so many things I love about our place!! First I love all the natural light. I love that we finally have an apartment that feels like a home. It's colorful and bright and reflects our personalities perfectly. I love that we've filled this place with handmade and reclaimed furniture and every piece has a story. I love our eat-in kitchen (which with LA apartments is rare) and the built-in that displays all my cook books and knick-knacks. And even though my husband bemoans it sometimes, I love that not everything "matches". Everything about our apartment feels authentic to me and I really love that!
- Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
- 1: Just because your rooms are boxy doesn't mean you're furniture layout has to be. We have a big box of a living room and for the longest time I didn't know how to arrange our furniture in here. The day I realized not everything had to be lined up or right on a wall was a big day. Angling the couch, with the coffee table in the middle of the room and our green chairs to the side really opened our space up.
2: Color and Art are your best friends. Even if I couldn't paint my walls, we still would have filled our home with color. If ever I've had a bad day, all the color and art around my home cheers me right up.
3: Keep it neat. Nothing makes a space look smaller than clutter. It's not always easy and it's never fun, but I try to have a place for everything and put everything in it's place.
