Vanity tables are similar, but they tend to have a front to the open compartment, making it less practical for using the laptop by just opening the lid since the edge would be in the way of your arms. This one seems to have a shelf for the laptop instead of an inset drawer-like area.

The West Elm one has the same problem, unless you can remove the front piece and attach it to the lid instead.
