Q: I am in the process of building out my jeweler's studio and I have been scouring low to mid-range furniture spots around the area looking for some office storage solutions. I need a chest of drawers or some sort of stand alone shelving where you can throw things into baskets and be done with it. I can't find anything that I like and IKEA pieces don't seem sturdy enough. Do you have any suggestions where I can find great office storage solution furniture?

Biff, Plummers, West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Room and Board, Modernica, DWR. You can also try a used office furniture store if you can find one in your neighborhood. Or consider repurposing piece originally designed for Kitchen or Living rooms if you cannot find proper office storage. But personally I like Ikea's office furniture. It is usually better built than their home stuff.
I think Ikea depends on the piece you choose. I was really surprised to find that La Casita used Ikea for their shelving:

It was quite sturdy and worked well for lots of skeins of yarn, so it could probably handle little baskets just fine. Maybe look at kitchen shelving or living room units rather than strictly "office" furniture? (For price to look ratio, you probably won't beat Ikea.)
Alternatively, you could try second hand shops and Craigslist and look for old typesetter's cabinets, apothecary cupboards, or punchcard cabinets. Lots of little drawers in those.
I'd ask what exactly you're trying to store.
FOr my jewelers tools I have these:

with the wheels off, I have 5 of them under a long table.
and for my beads and some stones I have these:

I have these shelving units:

(bought on sale)
And I'm slowly amassing low long dressers where the top can be used for equipment or working and the drawers can be used for storage.
If you want more 'furniture style' I'd go with the freestanding kitchen pieces from IKEA, they are moderatley priced and have drawers and/or open shelving.
GOOD LUCK!
For the last 10 years, I've been using Billy bookcases, both the narrow and wide, in my office holding bound volumes of old daily newspapers...and have moved them through 3 offices, still in good shape, no noticeable warping of the shelves, mounted to the wall for stability.
Why not use steel garage shelving such as this?

if you're needing larger shelving units, this one is the best value for my money: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=152201#spec
Wheels and everything! It's a monster, for a heck of a good price.
I make polymer clay and bead jewelry, and I'm accumulating metalworking materials as well. My work space is my dining room. I have two Expedit units end to end across the end of the room as storage units, with their drawer inserts to hold my clay and tools, and door units hiding my pasta machine, food processor, and buffer (things we use for polymer clay.) I also have, wrapped around the opposite corner, some Billy units with glass doors on top for display of collectibles and wooden doors on the bottom holding my multi-drawer plastic organizers and tackle boxes for beads, and other supplies and materials. I can work on the table, but if I want to clear everything away for a dinner party or something, there is a space for all of it. With a dedicated studio space, it would even be better!!

I am a great advocate of Ikea's Stolmen system [http://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=stolmen]. It's very sturdy, can be configured however you want, and the drawer units are sized to work with Ikea's interior fittings to help you organize them. It's the best thing that I ever bought from Ikea.
What about vintage library card catologue? Lots of little drawers to organize clasps etc. in. They seem pretty common considering they're no longer used.
I like the Stolmen serie too!
