Q: I've been looking everywhere, including local barn crawls, for a piece that is similar to an industrial tool chest console featured on Restoration Hardware. I love the look but hate the price.

Try boltz.com
I have one of the mobile tv carts & I like it a lot, very well built.
Depending on whether or not you have to have the doors on the front, I would consider picking up two replica steamer trunks, butting them up against each other. You could then also place a board on top across both so you have a sturdy surface. Simply stain or paint it to match the color of the trunks. It may not be an exact replicated look; but, it will certainly give off the same vibe.
Boy don't you just love it "SPAM" and crappy clothes to boot. They should rid this site of people who do this!!!!!
tried craigslist?
maybe you have to stick to monitor for long though..
Buy an Ikea PS media stand (do a search on Apartment Therapy) and have someone paint/distress it for you.
I finally went to H.D. Buttercup in L.A. last summer and realized that Restoration Hardware was selling knock-offs of their designer furniture for a tenth of the price. So I'd say Restoration Hardware *is* the discount version of what you're looking for.
I have been looking for something similar but have not yet found "the one". Give Hudson Goods a try. This one caught my eye: http://stores.homestead.com/hudsongoods/-strse-1699/industrial-reclaimed-wood-steel/Detail.bok
Thanks to those who suggested boltz.com and the hudsongoods store! Those are great sites with some reasonably affordable stuff.
(I'm not the original poster of the question, fyi.)
Where do you live? If you go to the town of Hudson NY, about 2 hours north of NYC, they have AMAZING finds like these. Antique farm looking consoles and cabinets for less than $500 a piece. There's a bunch of shops that line the main street. Hudson got hit hard with real estate crash so demand has gone down which keeps the prices low. Good luck.
A little bit less expensive, but not much...

Here is a coupon code allegedly good for 20% off: http://evreward.com/coupon/go/326014?v=1.2
I am also looking for the same piece but shorter version. I think I have to settle for the Horchow.
