Q: I fell in love with this range vent hood and have been unable to find anything like it online. Now all my other options for a vent hood look dull! Does anyone know the model or have a good source for where I can find this vent hood or something similar? Any thoughts or advice would help me with my unfulfilled and incurable love. Many thanks!

It's from Ikea. But I think this is a scandinavia-only model, because it's not shown on the US site. Here's the stainless one from the Ikea Sweden site:

A few things gave it away, by the way: the euro-style electrical outlets, the Ikea oven, and the electric kettle pretty much scream "overseas."
It's a shame they don't sell this model in the US, because I'm redoing my kitchen and I love this hood too. :)
Here are some alternatives:

This is Benita Larsson's kitchen, from Chez Larsson blog.
The hood (Framtid HW400) is not only available in Scandinavia; I'm seeing it just now at Ikea Spain so I guess is available in all the EU countries. But it seems the white one is discontinued.
Perhaps you could get a similar silver one and have it painted high-gloss white at a body shop.
Or (and this might be just a huge pain) you might build a similar shape around a small vent (or have a carpenter do it). The folks at younghouselove did something similar (although with a differently shaped hood cover): http://www.younghouselove.com/2012/02/i-gotcha-covered/
Oh, I love that kitchen. And that hood is great.
I second painting it at a body shop - google "coatings" or "applied coatings" and your town, and there will be a place that has a range of colors. I get trapeze rigs painted all the time, and it's not actually all that expensive, even! I pay about $125 to have 72 feet of pipe done.
Sand, prime, spray paint. A range hood does not come in contact with temperatures hot enough to harm a simple spray can paint job. You'll likely want to apply a few top coats of satin clear for whip-ability purposes, sanding lightly between coats.
