Q: I am on the hunt for a great orange-red duvet cover or bed blanket. This seems to be a very difficult color to find. Any suggestions for contemporary, bright toned simple blankets or coverlets for a pop of color?

Editor: Jane, The first thing that comes to mind is the red and black Hudson's Bay Blanket. I have one on my own bed and the red has a wonderful orange-y brightness. Readers, what other ideas do you have? Leave your suggestions for Jane in the comments - thanks!

Check out the Tanja Brodyr duvet cover set at IKEA; it comes in red-orange and it's reallllly soft.
Get a nice white or gray woolen blanket and dye it yourself! Fun project!
Jane doesn't mention her price range, but here's the "mandarin" throw blanket from Crate and Barrel. It's closer to what I think Jane had asked for, though it's pricey: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/decorating-and-accessories/throws/lima-alpaca-mandarin-throw/s156160
Here's a red and gold throw blanket: http://www.overstock.com/Bedding-Bath/Royal-Red-and-Gold-Floral-Woven-Throw/6311044/product.html
The color combination gives the appearance of a more orange red.
Jane did ask for a bed blanket or duvet, which IS harder to find...but a very large throw blanket might be the best you can do if you can't find something in your price range.
This is after a 5 minute google search

@Scoot - I get what you're saying (all it takes is 5 minutes) but are half those links (the ones that aren't Amazon or Lamps Plus) even reputable companies? The Alibaba and Gilman Sheets links look awfully shady.
And you know, Not on the High Street is UK delivery only.
I've had good luck with orange on Overstock.com.
Ikea - It's quite silky looking, despite being cotton.
TANJA BRODYR
Duvet cover and pillowsham(s), red-orange
100 % cotton / 200 thread count
King - $50 + comforter
I recently bought this coverlet/quilt-y thing and really love it: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40170793/ (Karit bedspread) The main color is a very deep orange with a lighter orange reverse. The only strange thing is the shams, they're for smaller-than-average pillows, but I was able to stuff in two fluffy standard sized ones. If you have firm pillows you might have a harder time. It's a great fall color and makes me happy every time I look at it!
Here's another one, with a pretty modern look: http://www.unisonhome.com/catalog/category/kids+blankets/product/harbor+poppy+blankets
Also, this option in 'paprika' may be a more affordable alternative to the Crate and Barrel blanket: http://www.overstock.com/Bedding-Bath/Cashmere-Showroom-Washable-Faux-Cashmere-Throw/5942807/product.html
It is a very hard color to find.
Companystore has a brick red duvet cover that looks more red orange. http://www.thecompanystore.com/Classic-Percale-Solid-Duvet-Cover-/-Comforter-Cover/dt30-r11-ps,default,pd.html?start=3&cgid=cs-duvet-covers-solid
Ralph Lauren has brick red sheets - I don't know if they make a duvet cover. Not a true red orange.
Look for Pompeii Red, which can be a red orange. Cinnebar is normally a brownish orange - but one never knows. And, yes, paprika.
Alibaba is a Chinese export site for American retailers and distributors. They sell by the shipping container, not retail.
If there are questions about sites, Google for reviews. Some very reputable, high end design shops have shocking awful reviews.
Jonathan Adler has a alpaca throw that is a red orange comes off more orange on the website.
Also, Urban Mercantile is a store that I go to frequently. I bought a beautiful David Fussenegger throw there. The website does not show what they carry but you could send the photo to the owner Bradley and he would be able to source it, just a idea. Full disclosure I have nothing to do with this store its just near my house and I've purchased many things from them over the years. They carry really nice modern blankets in great colors.

Otherwise, this is very Hermes or Scandinavian red which I have seen in those kinds of home stores.
Hudson's Bay Company, or The Bay, store in Montreal and possibly Toronto, Canada. The classic Hudson's Bay cover is white wool with large stripes in black red green yellow. If I'm not mistaken, they also have a solid red one. Expensive, but best quality there is, and they last forever.
West Elm currently has a pretty red-orange duvet cover and sham. It's under square tuck i believe
Someone already said the company store, but I just bought their flannel duvet cover in a color I believe is called "flame" it's LOVELY and super cozy :)
At KAS we specialise in all colours bold and bright, including some designs in the shade you are after.
Check out Mika quilt cover set or Bubble throw in red. You'll be sure to find something you like ;)
this website so nice, here is another good shooping website http://www.wholesaleinternation.com/ just have a look in here.
