Q: I have lived in my one BR in Park Slope for over 2 years now, but have been having issues decorating. I finally have an idea for my bedroom, or my boudoir as I would love for it to be transformed. I have been having a very hard time finding the right furniture to give it that glam french boudoir look. I found this armoire (larger photo below) that I LOVE and is exactly what I am looking for, but sadly, it is from the UK and I cannot find it here.

I don't need real antiques (I have a beautiful antique dresser which will work)! I want to start with the armoire and then go from there (since currently my clothes are in rubbermaid bins and on the floor)! Any help that I can get in finding this furniture would be appreciated!!!

I have this very same Armoire and I love it. They are actually fairly common. I purchased mine through an antiques shop in Illinois and found it on Ebay. The entire transaction takes a little faith and lots of pictures/emails to confirm the condition of the Armoire but the eventual transaction was simple and without a hitch.
I know it may not be ideal, but you can probably do this the cheapest by buying an armoire from a thrift store or Ikea and getting exactly what you want look-wise using paint, mirrors, and crown/base molding or chair rails and ceiling medallions from Home Depot or any other major hardware store.
Ikea also has these huge ornate boudoir-style mirrors with plastic edges that you can cut/paint however you like.
Woodworking trim also has a lot of options. I know it may be more of a time effort, but WAY less cash.
I love that! I don't know about the armoire, but I would search words like "baroque" and "victorian" daily and see what you find.
Urban Outfitters has a few small couches and headboards in that style, if you are looking for more:

Looks very Wisteria Home to me. Check them out...
This is not quite as ornate, but it is on Ebay now, decent price,
and located in Sea Cliff, NY. Maybe you could save shipping with local pick up?

I see a lot of these on Craigslist for under $800, which is a pretty good price.

I have seen in thrift stores various armoires and dining room cabinets that could pretty easily be redesigned to resemble this on a budget. Anything with glass doors could be fitted with mirror, although on a budget you probably won't get the beveled mirrors in your example.
However, if this piece really excites you and you feel like it always will, maybe you'd be better off just trying to match it as exactly as possible, even if more expensive that you'd like, and then fill in with cheaper furnishing that can be updated over time.
To me, that looks like a French armoir that's been hit with shiney black paint and custom mirrors.
And a quick google reveals that it IS French style, Louis XV, to be exact. And the doors are, or at least can be found, mirrored. So if you've got any antique stores in your area, go looking. One's bound to turn up eventually if you're patient. Just do me a favor and don't paint a good antique. It always makes me sad to see a finish in good condition ruined because the new owner wanted a different color.
How about this?

Personally, I would investigate how much shipping might cost -- it probably isn't as much as you are afraid it is. Sea shipping costs have plummeted since the recession; it may be much less than it was a few years ago.
I say that because the French mirrored armoires I found are much cheaper in the UK; £800 versus the one above for $2600. Worth investigating before dismissing at any rate.
I want to thank Zoee for referencing the armoire we have on eBay right now! It's a great French Provincial style.
We are based in New York and consign furnishings in all styles, with an emphasis on the interior design trade.
I am honored that we have been referenced here at apartment therapy!
Have a great day everyone!
