Souther Salazar: Make It Real

Souther Salazar: Make It Real

Perhaps because Los Angeles itself is a fantasy land, LA artist Souther Salazar regularly fills his art with wondrous visions of lost cities, giant insects, friendly dinosaurs, and a menagerie of animals not unlike the denizens of LA. You might recognize his work from his anti-marijuana campaign animations, but those only capture a fraction of the free form creativity his works reveal in person. His upcoming solo show next Saturday at Giant Robot's GR2, titled Make It Real draws inspiration from long drives and a wandering mind, imagining stories, scenes, places, and things that will have your eyes darting and your mind dancing. Big fantasies call for big canvases and five pieces are sized at 30" x 48" and one at 48" x 48", so this should be a fun show to catch this weekend. Information below the cut...
