SoyMagic: Soy-derived Household Cleaners

A study published Oct. 15 2001 in the journal Cancer Research revealed that mice with the soy protein lunasin applied to their skin had significantly lower rates of skin cancer than mice without the lunasin treatment. And while there are plenty of soy-based skin care products, SoyMagic is the first line of cleaners that derive their active cleaning agent from a soy based source. Soy beans are reduced to nanoparticle size and combined with tocopherol (vitamin E), isoflavone, lecithin to create a safer surfactant that decomposes naturally, while leaving your skin unscathed compared to traditional chemically derived cleaner. SoyMagic products also differ from traditional cleaners because they do not create a thick lather, something many of us associate with "cleaning", but in fact is unnecessary for effective cleaning. The only problem is it looks like currently the only place to get SoyMagic's line is via their website, and they're not as cheaply priced as common brands. But if you're looking for an eco-friendly, hypoallergenic every day cleaner, this might be your ticket to a cleaner home.
