We live in a pretty small kitchen...one where counter space is at a premium and requires always moving appliances, ingredients and cooking tools to be moved around to fit things while practicing any semblance of the culinary arts. So you can bet we noted these flip up gas cooktops from Alpes Inox with great interest...
Another space saving solution from Alpes Inox are their corner cooktops which utilize an area of the kitchen often neglected and wasted. We only wonder how safe it is to use a flip-up design and if the units are designed to dissipate heat quickly enough to be flipped safely after cooking. And our last question is what the lady in the photo is cooking and ready to throw in that pot in the last photo.

This is not a new idea -- Frigidaire had similar fold-up units (albeit electric) in the '50s. Seems like a good idea, to me, although these particular units look a bit clunky.
I have heard about different types of cookware such as Induction, gas, electric, over head and coil types of cooktops. But this is the first time i have come across this unique space saving model. These space saving cooktops can help in effective designing of modular kitchens due to its easy fit and remove property.
