Spacesaver desks! We are enamoured with puzzles here at the nursery, it would seem - certainly, puzzle-piece themed items have popped up an awful lot this month. But it makes sense to us, because sometimes, trying to fit everything we need into a really small space is a lot like putting together a giant, 3-dimensional puzzle. So it is no surprise that we are big fans of the P’kolino Klick desk.
P’kolino founders J.B. Schneider and Antonio Turco-Rivas have created a company that really understands the importance of play in child development and how to design for it, and the Klick desk is a great example of that. Sized for little people aged 3 – 7, the desk and chair fit cleverly together when not in use, and while it isn’t that clear in the photos, P’Kolino’s play kit (which comes with the desk/chair set) slides neatly underneath the seat and is useful for storing art and play supplies. We love the burst of bright colour in the chair, but also love that it is well balanced with the wood finish on the desk. If your living room is also where the kids play, these desks seem like a smart way to go, because when not in use they take up very little room and look like clever side tables. Klicks are made of baltic birch, with a naugahyde-covered seat. The Klick is 17"L X 17"W X 20"H (closed) with a seat height of 12", and weighs approximately 30 libs. $285.00
