Was one of your resolutions to get more creativity into your life this year? Whether at your job, your hobby or even at home? There are four things that could help spark your creative genius in 2016 — and keep it going all year long.

1. Play more

Yes, giving your brain a break from work and allowing your mind to wander a little bit can do great things for your creativity. Even if no brilliant ideas come to you while you're out running around with the dog or playing a game, the time away from slogging through work challenges will be time well spent, potentially leading to more creative insight later on.

2. Get stress down

Easier said than done, right? We all know by now that stress is bad for our health. And when you're stressed out all the time, you're not exactly doing your most innovative thinking. While you can't always control the amount of stress you have at work, you can try to create a home that helps you relax more.

3. Surround yourself with inspiration

Being in an inspiring space isn't the only way to have motivation or feel creative, but it sure helps. So why not craft an environment for yourself that encourages creativity? Surrounding yourself with objects and colors that are inspiring to you may help boost your creative juices.

4. Regularly push past your boundaries

Does being more daring invite more boldness into your creative thinking? We think so! So be on the lookout for opportunities — design or otherwise — to push past your own comfort zone. Getting daring with design at home (like the ideas below) or trying new things will stimulate your brain and might just spark some creative genius in you for 2016.
