Looking to make some cute papercraft decorations for the holidays that also happen to infuse a bit of technology into the mix? Everyone knows by now LED lighting is the smart way to go for holiday lighting; pair it up with free downloadable papercraft plans and you can make yourself either a tree or Menorah…

The paper plans for the Christmas tree above is free. Download the PDF and print it on or paste it onto card stock; it's recommended to use matte photo paper with the inkjet printer set to "high-quality."

If you've ever made a paper model before, you know the deal: cut, score, fold then tape/glue it altogether with an LED light source within (nice, cool and energy efficient operation that minimizes fire hazards). Sparkle Labs also offers a plan for a Hanukkah Menorah model to also partner up with their LED Discover Electronics Kit, but you can also likely use other small LED light sources in similar fashion (aka IKEA Dioder) for your holiday decoration needs.
