or the finished product and how it was displayed
This is one of the first "maker" videos I've seen where I've thought, "OH, so that's why that dude gets paid to do that." I'd never have the patience to do a wall like this, esp not the finicky hand-painted corners. The results are great, though.
I do love the attention to detail he brings to this.
I agree with all of the above comments. I would've loved to see the before and after, as well as the taped v. hand painted results.
My husband and I are fans of taping. There is no shame in wanting a difficult project to be a little quicker or easier. While some bleeding may occur, taking a small brush and going over the edges once the tape is off will fix the problem beautifully!
Here are some of our results:

The tip on using a stiff brush sounds right on. I'm NOT a taper (too many times it has bled), but have trouble finding a firm brush. Seeing his small brushes will definitely send me to the art store next time.
I did wonder about painting that piece of paper. Far easier to do this fine work on a flat surface than on a wall. Nevertheless, inspirational.
I'm also not a taper. For me, it's time lost when it comes to complex designs (imagine trying to tape around those demilunes. You can easily spend all day taping when you could save that time and get straight to the painting -- often with the same result as far as cleaning up the lines goes. That said, to each their own. There are plenty of different ways to achieve similar results for every project.
There are no rules to painting, only techniques.
Will have to watch the tutorial. I'd love to add a chevron wall to my home office!
