Spell with Flickr

Spell with Flickr

Sep 13, 2007

Lots of readers have recently become more familiar with Flickr, thanks to the Fall Cure. It's a great way to share photos of your home and seek/offer advice to your fellow AT community members. Here's another cool thing you can do with Flickr: Generate words. Erik Kastner created a program that pulls Flickr photos depicting letters of the alphabet.

When we came across Spell with Flickr (via How About Orange), we were reminded of local artist Darwin Bell's pieces. Although we think copyright infringement issues might prohibit folks from turning the Flickr photos into artwork — anyone out there know for sure? — nothing prevents us from being inspired by the photos. We might have to wander the streets of San Francisco this weekend, snapping images of cool letters. Afterall, it is Adornment Month at AT — a good motivation to create some personal art.
