Organic, curved, soft and subtle, spherical lights are a great addition to a space because they really bring in a fun look to a room. They have a playfulness to them, but can also appear quite sophisticated. You can install a single hanging sphere, or shake things up with several in a bundle. And — there are tons of options available to you if you are in the market for a sphere-shaped, hanging light fixture, with a great variety of materials to choose from.

Shaw's Original Fir...
We just used the globe pendants from West Elm for our kitchen renovation. They look great, prices were good too! Very happy with our choice!
Great picks; love the West Elm globe. A little surprised not to see the Ikea Minut (previously called the Fado, I believe) included in this list.
We have the West Elm one in our dining room; it was literally the first thing we did after closing - took out the brass, 80s-style pendant and switched in the globe. Then we painted the whole house, because a lot of it was that pancake batter yellow :)
I don't think of these as a trend but more or less when you want a pendent to that does not need to make a big statement or to clash or challenge the rest of the space- its like a basic white tee shirt.. I bought this one a couple of years ago for my entry way and have it on a dimmer..looks like the moon sometimes - also very please with the quality and you cannot beat the price-

Thirty five hundred for the pendant of my dreams???
I.
Don't.
Think.
So.
Still, it's fun to be inspired and to dream. Makes a DIY string pendant project seem a lot more attractive suddenly.
It's not listed here but I've got the Ikea Fado and I love it. It's like a little glowing moon.
Another vote for the Minut/Fado. They have a gentle glow, just like contessab says.
Do you think one West Elm pendant would be too small to be used in my living room, or would I need two or three? The room is about 10" by 13".
Orangrey, they sell a cluster or west elm gloves which might be perfect for a living room. I think one by itself might look odd, unless its over a nightstand. They look best in a row of several.
I'm a fan of anything spherical, my family jokes about it all the time. I have two west elm globes over my kitchen island and a herman miller bubble lamp (the round) over my sectional chaise. For the west elm, mine look pretty dirty, just wiping off with a cloth (as instructed) didn't really work for me. Does anyone use glass cleaner on theirs? Does anyone have the edison bulb in theirs, does it make a big difference. I've got frosted right now and aren't crazy about the look.
I get up on the kitchen island and use regular glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean my West Elm globes. I tried a special chandelier spray that you are supposed to lay newspaper underneath the light and spray it and it's supposed to drip off. It didn't work very well. I also use an incandescent clear bulb and I love the way it looks. Not as expensive as the edison bulbs.
thanks rasberryjam :-) i'll give it a try, i live in dust central.
My favorite DIY Globe lamp. Best $23 (for both) ever spent.

I have the West Elm pendant -- tried frosted, LED, ... Edison is the ticket for me. Mine is a bit greasy though.
Surprised the mirror ball pendant isn't on this list either.
Are the Minuts true Fados? It looks like the Minut is open on the bottom.
rejuvenation hardware has some pretty cool globe lights too!
