I'm a huge fan of DIY Christmas decorations. Especially DIY Christmas decorations that are inexpensive. Inexpensive Christmas decorations that are fun for kids to make, too? They go right at the top of my list!
This clever wreath from See Kate Sew takes the cake for simple ingenuity. She just grabbed a straw wreath, doused it in glue, and stuck on a bunch of dried split peas! Adorned with some red ribbon, this wreath is festive and simple.
I've been looking for an easy wreath for our covered front porch, and I have a feeling the three little boys at my house will love making this one!

Shaw's Original Fir...
You're gonna be vacuuming under this wreath the entire xmas season!
And God forbid it snows or rains on it . . .
nope. sorry.
Arrgh. I hate seeing perfectly good food go to waste on projects like these. I equally detest children's "macaroni art" as well. Unless it's something made to be eaten (like carved fruit/vegetable centerpieces, for example) I just feel that it is such a waste. There are soup kitchens during the holiday season who would love to have these split peas to feed the hungry. If one has food to waste like this why not give it to someone would would better benefit? That would bring holiday cheer for sure. It's better to make a wreath out of found objects of nature from one's yard.

Sorry that got posted twice.
Lovely wreath. Haha, if you're going to attempt this with three little boys, you're a braver woman than I.
@ allysonrae: Who vacuums a front porch?
@ uadoriana1: Do you really eat centerpieces? Roflol trying to picture that at a dinner party. Relax...at least no plastic was harmed in the making of this wreath..
Merry Christmas
