Well, I guess I'll start this!
I just bought a house in south-central austin and we're officially moving in this weekend. I'll be unpacking and Curing as I go so hopefully when all is done, the house is a home! Pictures/documentation will be at my blog and on flickr.
i'm not in austin, but oklahoma is close enough, right?
my husband and i live in a converted garage, and we need the cure to get more organized and have our place be more cozy!
I am always, it seems in the process of decluttering, organizing, fixing up, and yet I never seem to get anything completely done. My hope/intention is that doing this along with all the other folks across the country will keep me better focused and motivated.
Hi Austin! Good luck on the Spring Cure. It's great to have a place for local voices and let us know how it works for you.
Hi. I'm in Northwest Austin near the Arboretum.
I'm embarking on a redecorating project having lived in this house, a vintage mid-sixties...not a ranch....(it's a unique one-off design so I don't know exactly what you'd call it), for about fifteen years. (2700 sq. ft.)
Anyway, I think my challenge is going to be what to edit and replace architecturally. I think it might be psychologically harder to rip out and replace what you yourself (mostly) put in, rather than starting from scratch.
I'll let you know....
Maybe.
Forgot to mention I have a lot of furniture in storage because my parents passed away both relatively close together.
Lots of Beidermeier, Heppelwhite, pie crust tables, Sheraton demilunes, Hitchcock chairs and whatnot and I'm completely confused, because I'm not a terribly trad person but it's very, very nice furniture.
I hope the cure can help, because it seems I'm coming to the table with all sorts of issues and I really need help sorting things out.
Hi Supershy- I, too, am in a 1960s non-ranch house (mine's got an addition so it's a little weird).
Good luck with the cure- would love to see pics. : )
Hi ashley,
I'll look at your pics for now. We got nailed in the hailstorm yesterday. My car is totally dented, 8 windows in my house are broken (this is a big deal because the whole back side of my house is floor to ceiling windows on both stories) and I'm pretty sure we're going to have to do some roof work. It hasn't been inspected but I'm meeting with the adjuster.
If you have any advice, that would be great.
I'm so bummed.
Oh crap! Yeah, N. Austin got hit pretty bad. I'm so sorry about the damage- that's awful!
I got nothing, but hopefully your insurance agent has some good people to recommend.
Okay, we've gotten very quiet here.
Supershy-- how are things going with your house and the repairs and the insurance people, etc?
Ashley-- I looked at your blog, and flickr pictures. I am impressed and inspired by your energy and focus.
I am not managing to stay on task as far as the overall Cure, but I have been busting up a few energy logjams and cleaning some areas that usually sort of stick their tongue out at me :-) Also, have been getting flowers, cooking at home which is not unusual for me but I'm doing it more. Haven't deep-cleaned the floors but am sweeping and vacuuming the main areas more regularly-- I have two big dogs and a roommate who seems to deposit a layer of dirt wherever he goes so this is an important thing.
I've got a long way to go, but I'm already feeling better.
Marska- aw, thanks! : ) i hear you on the furry friends. I've 2 cats, and am fighting the litter problem right now. I sweep it up and then one of them hops out and scatters a little more. Target is sold out of the little stick-vac w/ dust buster that I want...
This week has been crazy; prepping for a long weekend away visiting family, so my living room is suffering. But maybe I can catch up on a week that I'm already ahead on. Maybe.
I just bought my first home and I am working to find my style. I live in outside San Anotonio on the way to Austin. I have a bit of a focus problem so I tend to kind of do little bits in each room at a time. I have been in the house for 7 months and this is where I am- Visit my Flickr Photstream and give me your advice on how to streamline, or any suggestions you have! I'm a decor newbie and I think the home is starting to look like I am trying too hard but it is only out of my own inability to find a clear vision! HELP!
