I'm really feeling the squirrel right now. I sense the hedgehog and the owl have run their course, and I'm ready to give the lowly squirrel his day in the sun. After all, they are probably one of the most accessible and recognizable "woodland" animals around. Have you ever seen a hedgehog?
We've rounded up some cute squirrel decor for you to peruse. But what we really want to know is whether you see this furry friend making its mark in kids' decor this year. Let us know in the comments!

S.I.M.P. Squirrels in my pants.
Sorry, just had to make the Phineas & Ferb reference.
"I'm really feeling the squirrel right now" sounds like a euphemism! I'm going to try to work it into conversation today.
Absolutely...owls are out...squirrels are DEFINITELY in!!!!
@Stacey from dohiy.com - Great. Now I have to explain my laughter at work...
Cute! The clock would work for adults too!
Because of the invasiveness of the big grey squirrels here on the west coast, those guys are a red flag for many people here.
If you are living in the US, you would only see hedgehogs in the pet store.
my boyfriend calls me squirrel, i'm definnitely into it replacing owls.
That's nuts.
tree rats in my kitchen? no thanks. the only thing worse would be pigeons
Great comments...glad I'm alone at work today...
I get frequent visits from the squirrels in my neighborhood. They sit right outside and eat the bird seed I've left for the birds. When the bird seed is gone, they still come back to check the feeder in case I've refilled it. I like their presence, but it freaks me out on occasion when I turn around and there's a squirrel looking into my kitchen.
I LOVE squirrels. To the point that my college boyfriend bought me a bag of squirrel feed to lay outside my dorm room window. These are all adorable, but my favorite is the coat hook from Land of Nod - there's something very updated-Beatrix-Potter about it, and I love it.
I'm not getting the focus on one animal at a time...we have a bit of a woodland thing going on that involves a mix of critters. Hope the animal popularity police are ok with that...
When I studied in Leipzig for a summer, hedgehogs were EVERYWHERE just like squirrels in the U.S., scuttling out of bushes and across pathways. For this reason, I will never ever fall out of love with them, but I'm all for squirrels, too. My school's campus has the friendliest ones I've ever encountered. Sometimes they hop right up on a table by you and ask for a chip.
Decorating with squirrels where I live would be like decorating with pigeons in New York.
Tree rats for sure.
No thanks!
Squirrels are cute. But NO. Growing up, they picked the unripe apples from the fruit trees and hurled them at their reflections in our windows. In the hundreds, and acorns out of season. Owls and hedgehogs are popular for a reason.
'Tree rats', hee!
Anybody seen Rat Race where Kathy Bates played The Squirrel Lady?! LOL!
I agree that they're more accessible to kids than most of the animals we decorate with, so it makes sense to give them something cute and recognizable in their room. I'm in love with this squirrel lamp from Urban Outfitters, but they don't let you pick which critter you get - http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=26574566&parentid=A_DECORATE
Coincidentally, CBC's The Nature Of Things ran an episode called "Nuts About Squirrels" last night.
I've loved squirrels for a long time - they are always in season to me!
in your pants?

We bought the sequined squirrel from West Elm a couple of years ago for our daughters' bedroom. I love it.
I love squirrels. I have four sqiurrel in my home. It's always nice for me to see something with squirrels on it. There are a lot of clothes with cats or dogs printed on it, and a lot of decors with birds but it's hard to find someting with squirrels.
