- Inspiration for my palette:
- The rest of our house is fairly subdued, so I really wanted to go for a hard color punch in the foyer. It's the first space you see when you enter our house, and I think the yellow is so energizing and happy.
- Colors used in my room
- Yellow, Red, Black, White and Gray
- Tips for using color successfully
- I love color and have to hold myself back so as not to end up with a room that looks like a rainbow exploded. I tend to like strong colors, and find that choosing one strong color and balancing it out with neutrals keeps things from looking crazytown (not the boy band).

Room for Color
All looks good; even the other room, but art over sofa is too high (and too small). Common problem with so many AT reader submissions.
I love that West Elm rug!
lovely colors! where did you get "liberty" print?
Shameless cute doggie picture! :) Nice room!
Hi Sneki,
Thanks so much for the nice comment! We actually bought the Liberty canvas at a local store in St. Pete called Treehouse Gallery. I wish I knew if it's available elsewhere...
Hmm that yellow looks more like eggs to me. But eggs and ketchup doesn't have the same ring. :) The hotdog is super adorable though! and I love the light fixture and style of doors. How old is your house?
Our house was built in 1928, and luckily most of the original details are intact (doors, wavy glass windows, etc.) The light fixture is from Schoolhouse Electric.
Who wouldn't vote for the parents of such a majestic pup? The room is pretty special too.
Excellent comment, Ron from arcitectual digest. Love your magazine.
thanks stacey!
Hi Stacey,
Where did you get that console table/shelf? We're looking for a narrow shelf exactly like that one. Thanks!

Hi Tinabeans,
The console table is from Ikea. It's the Hemnes sofa table in gray-brown.
Now THAT yellow is beautiful! Much nicer than the garish, hard shade I just saw in another article. Very lovely!
