Danny and Lauren Chaidez are the design-savvy owners of Melrose's Stag Hair Parlor. They have managed to curate space where you can simultaneously enjoy a new hair cut, great decor and furnishings and original art by local artists.

When Danny and Lauren designed the salon they drew inspiration from rustic woods, re-purposed materials and furniture with Mid Century Modern appeal. They built the shelving out of old wooden crates purchased from the flea market and pipes from Home Depot — noting the DIY tutorial from Apartment Therapy. They dressed up a generic display case with slats of different woods along with another crate for more display. Their two paint colors from Glidden are Wild Truffle and Vanilla Custard. Their space is small but Danny and Lauren both say it was a major pain in the rear to do it all themselves.

Currently there are paintings by local artist Matt Wood, who incidentally also did the mural above the mirror and main counter. Danny and Lauren decided they wanted to not only feature and sell the work of local artists and hand made jewelry, but they also will host live music for acoustic shows. Not just your average beauty parlor!

Love this! Getting my hair done in Eames chairs? Yes please! I love everything about this place! I wish more small businesses did this.
I LOVE THE STYLE! I'm actually in beauty school now. This post gives me hope for my own salon one day.
So many cool things in one space! The clock of scissors is especially clever and unique. Nice job on the metal and wood shelving and display case. Everything looks so good together.
I love this! So beautiful!!
they should paint a bowtie on that dog harness!
Excellent! I'm nuts about that scissors clock.
OMG, I know that girl!
Lauren, I completely love your convertible beauty parlor! I still remember Addison playing a thrift store in Riverside. Wow, it's been a while.

I've been here and can attest this place is truly awesome! Lauren has been cutting my hair for years and I was so stoked to see her and Danny create such a bitchin' shop. Really great style and attention to detail... looks even better in person!
