What I Love About My Small Home:
I recently moved into this contemporary apartment, and I love the juxtaposition of my antique and primitive furniture and folk art with the sleek architecture and modern fittings. While the space is small, I'm not afraid to live large and share it with family and friends and entertain 10-15 for cocktails. Don't let a small space keep you from sharing it with the people you love.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
When space is at a premium, furniture that does double duty and functions in multiple ways is helpful. My father handcrafted my armoire when televisions were deeper, but now it holds a flat screen tv, barware and a collection of Blue Canton porcelain.
A healthy dose of self-discipline is required to keep things from getting out of control when it comes to housekeeping tasks and closet organization. I purge unworn clothing at least twice a year. And, in a studio apartment, the bed must be made every morning.
Despite living in a small space, I believe there is always room to express one's personality. I find things that I love, and then I find room for them.
