2004_9_24_staples 3.jpgHandmade. Stephen and Christine Staples began building furniture out of reclaimed lumber over 30 years ago. They weren't even married when they started. Today, the Staples have a store, a website and a big business building tables, chairs, cabinets, benches, and anything else that looks like it was lifted right out a turn of the century farm house.

2004_9_24_staples2.jpgUsing only reclaimed lumber and vintage farm objects, they have a number of fairly standard products (ie Shabby Chic) and then a whole bunch of "creations." This is all pretty funky stuff, and not exactly our style, but they also do custom orders, which is where it gets interesting. Give them a plan for a simple, straight ahead or even slightly modern looking table and they will build it out of amazing wood.

2004_9_24_staples1.jpgPrices run around $2,000 for an 8 foot farm table, and $1,000 for a coffee table half that size. You can have any legs you want (on the table :-)), different finishes and there are a number of different wood choices. Orders can be placed by phone, fax and email, and Christine Staples assures us that communication these days is easy. So, feeling a little 1989? Go for it and set your own style! (Thanks, Daniel!)
