After the papercraft Christmas tree, come the Star Light Minis, which are basically diffusers that are placed onto your existing Christmas lights to change the look and feel of your Christmas tree.
These Star Light Minis are the brainchild of Ben Light. He turns manila envelopes into stars to decorate holiday light strings. We think that these look pretty amazing. The pattern is available for download directly from his Flickr site.
We really like this because if the stars act like diffusers, making the Christmas lights less bright. It gives a great ambiance and it looks like the Christmas tree is glowing more than before. Ben Light did this in a workshop at the Museum of Art and Design in NYC. The Star Light Minis are easy to make and use a bit of wiring to hold their structure together. Other than that, you just follow the patterns. This is a fun project to do with your family during the holidays.
