It's been three years since Apartment Therapy first posted Tony Alleyne's Star Trek themed bachelor pad — Bachelor Pad Report: Bliss is a Room Without Wires. With the newest Star Trek making Box Office history for the Star Trek franchise, we thought it was worth another visit...
This pad is modeled after the Enterprise of The Next Generation — Tony Alleyne started a science fiction themed design business to recoup the cost of his apartment renovation! You can see a ton more pictures, plus a virtual tour at 24th Century Interior Design.

There are no words. I would never ever live in that, but I would LOVE to book a few nights if it were a hotel. Lots of nights. God, that is sooooo well designed.
*gone to dream some more*
Hmmmm... I'm conflicted. Tony's adorable and the pad is cool, but then there's the concern if I'm going to be held captive up and tortured like a Borg.
So, I guess I would have to say "Beam me up Handome McCrazy!"
Glad I'm not dating him.
It's cool, but I don't think I could live in there. I think the constant "club scene" atmosphere would drive me batty.
in the future....they have the same toilets as we do now?
it's kewl as far as the idea of creating a room like this, but like others, i don't think it's ideal to live in. hence "bachelor"..
Eek - how would he ever sell it?
Is it functional?
Like, are all those lights and meters and doo-dads actually workable? Or do they just sit there as a giant, glass, dustable surface?
It's cool, but, umm, yeah.
This is fabulous!
I would never live for resale so I have no quibble with that part.
That said... I'd have gone with the original series or DS9. Yes, I'm a big enough nerd to know the difference.
it's great in theory, but c'mon, these types of things are meant for theme parks, not people's places. well executed, but too nerdy. regardless of how much of a fan you are of something, modeling your entire apartment after that one thing will alwys be lame.
I quibble with the glass shower.
Picard strikes me as more of a bubble bath kind of guy.
Matt. M tell it to the DWR people. "Modelling your entire apartment after that one thing" is what a lot of people do, whether its sci-fi or an Ethan Allen catalog or Mid-C.
I can't imagine why he went through a bitter break up!
Being with someone whose that obsessed with anything must be challenging. That being said I say do what makes you feel good - it's his money and his time and space - no pun intended.
this is so neat! my dad would have LOVED this! how fun- its a little dark, and i'd love to see it actually being used as an apartment, but its way cool.
so unique. good job dude!
I bet he's a sweet man and all, but I think is a reason why "bachelor" and "Star Trek" are in the same sentence.
There's no such thing as an unintentional pun; the act of typing the phrase "no pun intended" makes it intentional.
Bachelor? That's just shocking.
JosieDaisy - I was more referring to 'one thing' as in a Star Trek theme, Superman theme, Strawberry Shortcake theme, etc. Not necessarily one style/brand of furniture. Themes like this are great for when you're 5, not when you're an adult. Again, just my $.02
Well, since it's strictly bachelor material, I'm sure he doesn't have a problem with Kling-ons.
OHHHHHHH!
So why was my bad Klingons pun erased? I was referring to klingy date/relationships, not. Trigger happy much?
uh... your bad Klingon pun is showing. Step away from your phaser.
Oh! My bad...never mind. Site is acting slow today...8^p
~bows head in shame~
I have seen every episode of every Trek program (except the cartoons) and I just watched the new movie Thursday in pre-release, and I think this is merely sad. (The college guys who came to the movie in pretty authentic looking "uniforms" would probably love it, though.) Trek is entertainment, not lifestyle.
hahaha this is my favorite post, ever! I love you guys.
It looks incredibly cool....but would throw up a great big red flag if I met a guy who had a whole apartment in ANY TV theme.
It looks really cool as a design but I think it would be annoying to live there. It's something I'd book as a hotel for a weekend, but if a guy themed his place to this extreme, well he's not the one for me.
So they do use the toilet in the future!!!
He should work in conjunction with another design group. His would cater to bachelors, trekkies, guys in mid-life crisis. The other business would do the transition back to reality apts. Tasteful, with one or two small objects, maybe a Starship sculpture for the desk, or a space-age toilet paper dispenser to remind them of their odyssey with Starfleet. Maybe a framed pic like Tony's above.
i love it
really i do
there is a girl for every guy people, don't be so harsh! :P
sorry for the oddly structured comment – should read:
there is a girl/partner for every guy/person– let's not be so harsh, people!
tgif... *sigh*
Ok, if he wasn't attractive it might be a bit much - and I have no clue why that is... Maybe a basement done like this would be cool, where I could "return to the present" when I wanted a break... It is done incredibly well...
Let's say I was totally happy with a tv show based apartment, it's still too dark for me. I need more light, and I need places to sit. It looks cool but uncomfortable - more like a night club than an apartment.
i love this--someone totally passionate about something he loves. it's like close encounters of the third kind--doing this over and over, for reasons even he doesn't know. So what? He can do what he wants to!
I found Tony's site when it first his the Web, after he had lost a lot. This was years ago. I emailed him and said he should become a designer or do something like this for a living, not to listen to detractors. Hmmm...gues he already had the idea.
Star Trek is full of hope and tolerance (and some violence, but they are trying to go where no man has gone before, after all). I think ppl find extending that theme into their lives constructive.
If it's true this is not for me. It's also true that this must be the coolest apartment I've ever seen...ever!
This guy is my hero. I do agree that the darkness of the "bridge'' would be too much to live in all the time! If it were brighter, like the living quarters, then I'd be down with that apartment! Fellow nerd, I salute you!
I love it, I'd want a room like this! Couldn't do the whole house because there is so much else i like....but imagine the rest of the house is just a holodeck (sp?)! Now i need to find out if the wall panels are functional....how exciting!
side note: It's okay to disagree with someone's home design but to get personal about it, incredibly rude.
This is SURREAL! ... honestly I thought at the beginning it's a subway control room.
