Hmmm. Something is up. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back has inspired a lot of design lately — from the Standard Hotel that straddles NYC's Highline to the new AT-AT Walker Lamp by Lifegoods. Why can't designers resist the All Terrain Armored Transport?
And don't forget my personal favorite: the AT-AT Desk by Tomoko Azumi.

Like it I do!
Isn't there another hotel someplace shaped like a Jawa Sandcrawler?
In grad school for architecture I designed small outdoor theater that from the side looked like the cockpit of an x-wing fighter - totally on purpose. I really like the aesthetics and shapes of the original Star Wars movies, and I think it has something to do with them being somewhat archetypal (as Lucas was influenced by Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung).
That desk is beautiful on its own. It doesn't need a Star Wars association.
Who doesn't love the Imperial Walker!
The hotel one is kind of a stretch...but the others definitely
Very cool!
I live near a bridge, the pillars of which always remind me of At-At legs. They're gray concrete, and I sometimes imagine them painted in fun colors. But then I think they'd lose a bit of their At-At character. And that would be unfortunate.
That desk is awesome.
The other day I bought this cool print of the Death Star being rebuilt. I must be trendier than I realized.
