I spotted this DIY over on The Harpster Home and loved the idea. It's a creative way to celebrate the place that you call home and fill a bit of wall space at the same time.
The project is simple to execute and could be completed in a weekend afternoon. It uses nails, string, a block of wood, and a printed map as a template. Starting with a simple wood block, you outline the template with nails to create a framework to loop the strings around.

This is very cool--possibly my favorite state art so far!
meh.
I like it. It'd also make a nice housewarming gift for a friend or couple
I have a bunch of flat, silver head pins for sewing that I never use. I think I'm going to cover some styrofoam and use pins and string/thread for this! Such a cute idea :) I'm going to have my own California/Heart and fabric covered block after work today! Thank you for getting my creative juices flowing <3
I think it's really cute!
It would work best with square-ish States. I live in Maryland and would have a hot mess if I tried this, I suspect. Too many narrow places.
HELLO 1970! :O)
Don't discount weird-shaped states! Someone made a North Carolina one of these for my roommate and it's just the cutest!
This is awesome. I want to do this in red and gray, OHIO! :D
LOVE! I've seen these on etsy and haven't wanted to spend that much cash on them and it doesn't look too difficult. Ironically Ohio is my home state too! Very great. Thanks!
