Stay Connected to Your Better Half: Smartphone Apps for Couples

Weekly Smartphone App Roundup

There's a lot of pressure on Valentines Day for couples to go above and beyond to show how much they care. But when all is said and done, it's how we treat that special somebody for the other 364 days of the year which truly matters. Technology is often deemed "cold", but there are several ways smartphone apps can reinforce the human connection. Here are some new (and romantic) ways to let them know 'I'm thinking of you.'iOS

Left: Couple - Right: IceBreak for Couples
Couple Me and the wife-to-be have been having a blast with this social network for two. Built to share only for your one and only, you can message, send links, voice clips, videos and even send little doodles. We're particular suckers for the 'thinking of you' button (which is basically a cuter version of poking) and the thumb kiss which lets you touch thumbs in real time, resulting in a love vibration. IceBreak for Couples
Although breaking the ice usually comes at the beginning of the relationship, IceBreak offers couples a fresh take on communication. By answering icebreaker questions as frequently as you like you are able to gain brand new information and tidbits on your boyfriend/girlfriend, fiancée or partner for life. From this it offers activities couples can do based on harmonious responses. On top of that IceBreak offers a built-in messenger, sketch pad and private photo sharing feature. Free

Left: Between - Right: Kindu for Couples

Between
Between is an ultimate all in one app for two people in love. It has note sharing, datebook, messenger complete with emoticons and photo/video/audio sharing and a shared photo gallery. Every time I try to convince my fiancée that I'd like to start syncing up via a new app, I'm usually met with a disgruntled expression but as far as networking within relationships go, Between is a winner. It successfully keeps two people close and focused unlike Facebook or Twitter which is far too broad. Free - Also available for iOS

Kindu for Couples
On the sensual side of dating, a popular tip is to keep things fresh and exciting every now and then to avoid relations becoming stale. For this delicate topic Kindu for Couples helps make things more approachable. How it works is Kindu will ask you questions about what you're willing to do (role play, toys, etc.) Your partner will find themselves answering similar questions, queries you answered positively on will be thrown into the mix anonymously. When both of you agree on the same activities, it's easier to broach further in person knowing you're both curious enough to try. $2 - Also available for iOS
