Emily's Rochester Merrypad was an instant favorite house tour with the readers. And it's no wonder! Emily's entire house is picture perfect, like it's from a shelter magazine photo shoot rather than real life. Want to create the look in your own house? Here are the tips and resources to make it happen…

To start out, Emily has set a mellow tone by painting the walls with Benjamin Moore's Stone. It's a perfect gray to create a restful space. The area rug, West Elm's Pebble Rug, is a similar gray, bringing a sense of cohesiveness to the space — and it looks amazing against the dark brown hardwood floor!
To play off the dark walls, Emily uses white as the other dominant color in the room. The large white surface of the bedspread creates a clean look. It also coordinates with the white IKEA MALM dresser, not to mention the white trim surrounding the room. The one piece of color that Emily brought to the room is the CB2 Harvey Nightstand in Lobster. Surrounded by the neutral colors that set the tone of the room, this colorful table acts as a sort of exclamation point. Using white accessories atop the nightstand completes the look.
