
We're always excited to see projects from French brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. We've covered a lot of them at Apartment Therapy: Work Nest Task Chair, Basket Sofa, Alcove Sofa (to name a few). The Steelwood chair is newly available and it's combination of materials reminds us of Jaime Hayon's Showtime Chairs — but at the same time they're completely different...



On the Bouroullec site, there is an interesting series of photos from the Magis factory of the manufacturing process of the Steelwood. The image above shows the results of each step in the elaborate stamping processes needed to achieve the chair's unique curved shape.

The Steelwood in white steel with solid beech legs and seat (pictured directly above) is available from MoMA for $530. If you love the shape, we think the Hippie Arm Chair from CB2 is remarkably similar in shape (but not nearly as cool without the steel component!)
