It's not just a step stool--Amy Butler's retro fabric is covering up something... Over at Etsy, seller BabyBloomers hand-makes these stools using milk cartons and mail order catalogs. First, she cuts and refolds juice and other cardboard cartons. Next, she fills them in with magazines and junk mail. Then, she lines the top and bottom with cardboard, and finally sews a cotton cover for it using Amy Butler's retro looking fabric.
A great DIY project, plus it's almost all recyclable. Our only caveat is that they don't support more than 150 pounds--but that just means they're perfect as stools in one very hip kid's room.
