We're huge fans of Stephen King &mdash we've read most of his novels and seen the movies based on them (no matter how good or bad the depiction was). Bringing our love for Stephen King into our home hasn't really been a huge option and we're glad to see that it's going to get a lot easier.
Graphic Designer Nick Tassone interpreted the novels of Stephen King in a single image. He excluded the gore and guts and focused on the one image that tells the main story.
Each poster is one color full bleed. For Carrie, he chose pastel pink screen printed on black paper. The Carrie poster is one of our favorites; it's hard to forget the scene where she gets blood poured all over her while she's on stage in front of everyone. That was the pivotal moment that her rage culminated and we saw the true fire inside of Carrie. Misery is another favorite &mdash Tassone used just an image of an ankle. Obviously telling of the most horrific part of the story.
Carrie is the first print available for sale for $30. The other novels translated to posters are: Pet Sematary, Fire Starter, The Shawshank Redemption, The Shining, Christine, Stand By Me, Misery and IT.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I want to buy Salem's Lot for my husband! I wonder when that might be out...
I just finished reading Carrie and Misery for the first time. I'm usually not one for scary books or movies, but I loved them. These prints are perfect!
These are fun. I'd love to see something similar for Hitchcock movies.
It seems every graphic artist is doing these movies-as-penguin-book-covers posters. I like them, but it is a good idea that keeps going and going and going...
these are good. perfect two color prints
what does "&mdash" mean in the beginning of this article? i love the shawshank redemption one!
Visually I love them. The illustrations and compositions are nearly flawless. They also work great as a set.
However, as representatives of their respective movies, I don't think it works. They are all given the same visual treatment, but I don't think the experience of watching Carrie (a movie steeped with tragic events) is the same as The Shining (which plays on the horror of isolation). I get no sense of the emotional experiences from watching these VERY different movies.
Anyway, the posters are really pretty. Like the type too.
Some of these are spoilers.
Boo!
The Shining is my favorite (Kubrick love <3) The made for television version that Stephen King had done because he wasn't fond of Kubrick's representation was awful.
In college I had a ginormous "Christine" movie poster in my dorm room. I thought it was bad ass. I still do. =>
queenbee1230 aka Christine
@wonkyone15 "&mdash" is html for a long dash. If you're using IE you might not be able to see the dash, and instead see the html code.
damn I thought these were going to be book cover designs for collector's editions. i would have been all over that. Posters, not so much.
Incredible! I love them!
Ok, I love LOVE Stephen King! I have read EVERY SINGLE ONE of his books and been riveted by them all! But I am not loving these posters. Visually, I just don't think any one of them is that evocative of the books or the movies.
Also, I think I would fall more in love with posters that were more about the books than the movies. This may be nitpicky, but for the Misery one, it shouldn't be a broken ankle, cause in the book, she chops his foot off with an axe, rather than hitting it with a mallet, as in the movie.
I know, I'm a nerd. :)
The Carrie is perfect for my new 50s retro bathroom in content and colorscheme! An one if my favorite movies. Bought and done. Thanks apt therapy!!
I think these are great and, as a King fan myself, I'm kind of inspired to come up with my own posters. Cool idea. glitchgirl, the broken ankle is appropriate since these posters represent the movies that were made. Look at the credits along the bottom. The poster for The Shining would be incorrect as well.
Reminds me of Albert Exergian's poster series for popular TV shows...
glitchgirl, I too love Mr. King's books, although I confess, I've read many but not all of them! Aside from the Carrie poster, I can't say that I'm that impressed and, in every sense, the Misery poster design is a bit lame (I haven't read that book - she chops his foot off? Really? Crazy bitch!). I suspect that the posters represent the movies rather than the books but even so, I would've thought that The Tommyknockers would've been ideally suited, given that the poster could have nothing other than a pair of green eyes!
carrie is funny, stand by me is apropos (original story title: the body), pet cemetary is both funny and apropos. but i don't think any of these are the most evocative image for the novels/movies.
carrie would be better as a crucifix/ion. firestarter, a small girl. it, maybe a drainpipe or a silhouette of seven kids or a collection of seven toys (the slingshot, the earrings, the inhaler...). shawshank, the little hammer in the bible.
