Rustic wood and hot pink highlights usually run in separate circles, so it's quite a surprise to spot them mingling so brazenly in this Middleburg, Virginia converted barn. However, a peek into the barn's past reveals that the bold pairing is more about sentimental history than mere shock value.
Southern Living explains that Steven Gambrel returned to his native Virginia to take on his first barn transformation. While many of his choices for the barn's interior— the rustic beams and the clubby furniture— fit right into Middleburg's reputation, the cobalt blue and hot pink accents are highly personal. Gambrel drew them from jockey silks depicted in a picture of the family's favorite jockey. He explains that the, "They do exactly the same thing for this room as they do for a jockey riding a horse....They provide strong color on a neutral background."

Looks like a lovely, comfortable home.
No.
I like it. And fortuitous juxtaposition with the "neon" post that was posted just after this one. XD
uck. uck. uck.
I love it, and I almost never like pink!
Mistake. And I love bright colors but this is not the way. Honor the house.
The house is a converted barn. All the finishes are new. What's to honor?
I hope it makes him happy when he sees it.
As a Virginian I love all things Middleburg!! If you are ever in our lovely state stay a few days in Middleburg.
Southern Living regularly features floorplans, and over the magazine's history, a number of these have become popular home styles in the Southeast. Many of these plans are available for purchase as construction blueprints from the company's website. Thanks.

Most apartments are in buildings designed for the purpose, but large older houses are sometimes divided into apartments. The word apartment connotes a residential unit or section in a building. In some locations, particularly the United States, the word denotes a rental unit owned by the building owner, and is not typically used for a condominium. Thanks.
