Stimulate the Senses with Spice Painting

One Inch World

Autumn is an especially odoriferous time with decaying leaves, pumpkin pies, mulled cider and wood smoke filling the air with a heady perfume. It's the perfect season to explore the sense of smell with your kids. Here is a great project that combines a bit of art with a whiff of spices and encourages you to clean out the pantry to boot.

Katherine at One Inch World recently did a spice painting project with her daughter and was extremely glad to report it kept her occupied for almost two hours. It's a simple process that involves nothing more than glue, water, and some old spices.

While the results may not be visually stunning they are sure to be the nicest smelling paintings in the neighborhood.
