Are you an evening runner like we are? The shorter winter daylight hours means many of us are now running after work with little or no sunlight. Sure, you can wear a goofy-cumbersome headlamp (headache city) or shine the path using your cell phone (don't drop it), but we think these LED handheld Knuckle Lights are good for safety while also being safer to hold. These put out a bright 45 lumens of light, though it doesn't look like you can dim them down; a 5 year warranty is a comforting guarantee with something you might us everyday. Our better half is always bothering us about being more safe during our evening running routes, so we're thinking we might need to purchase a set this holiday season...

really? knuckle lights? If you have ever run while carrying a light source in your hand you would find as i have, better to just let your eyes adjust to the dark than be running with what might as well be a strobe. When you run you hands move, or they ought to, and this amounts to your light source shining in a bunch of different places that are not the 20 feet directly in front of you. this is the only solution i would really consider, but i would probably just go with what has worked for me in the past, run where there are street lights or run in the road in low traffic areas.

I do have to say if you run in the dark PLEASE wear reflective gear or a light in darker areas. the MUP near my house is a major bike route and biking at night is horrifying because there is, without fail, someone in all black with headphones on jogging in the pitch black making them practically invisible until you are a few feet away from them unless you have 300 dollar bike lights. Stay visible, stay safe!
There are a lot of great headlamp options out there that cost less than these, and are not at all cumbersome. I agree with chronsbons - you would just be shining the lights every which way except in front of you if they were on your hands.
