The Depot is having a winter storage event through the end of the month (Jan. 31). For either in-store or online shopping, this storage "event" includes bins, totes, carts, shelving, hooks and hangers. The most basic of storage items, these are good for nearly anything and anywhere. Here we've picked our top five most useful, often versatile pieces:
- 8-pack wood hangers (buy wood hangers every time they're on sale and soon enough you'll be rid of all your plastic and wire), $4.97 (in-store)
- Perfect Home 10-pair shoe shelf (we use one for gloves, hats, and scarves), $9.97 (in-store)
- Rubbermaid 18 gallon Roughtote (great for storing clothes if you swap out your wardrobe seasonally), $8.93 (in-store)
- Perfect Home 8-shelf accessory holder (we read "accessory" as anything - including clothes or shoes), $9.97 (in-store)
- Workforce 5-shelf heavy duty steel shelving (if you've got the space, these shelves are great for paint, cleaning supplies, etc.), $87.97 (available online)

Shaw's Original Fir...
IKEA sells their 8 pack wooden hangers for $3.99!
pkswede, you stole my post! : )
i prefer their hangers because of those little divots. some of my tops and dresses would slide off the hangers if it wasn't for them.
Good stuff. However that means I have to actually go to Home Depot and well, I'd rather get a root canal twice over. HD is probably my least favorite place to shop on the planet.
Wooden hangers are great, but they do eat up a lot of closet space.
Has anyone tried those "huggable" hangers? I think they were originally sold through HSN, but Container Store and others have their own versions.
I'm not a HSN viewer/shopper, but lots of people I know swear by these. They are supposed to take up much less space than the plastic or wood hangers... also they claim to eliminate the shoulder bumps...
the huggable hangers are fantastic! all my clients LOVE them...
the rubbermaid roughneck containers are great. 2 new ones sitting in my living room right now.
However target had them on sale for 5.50 last week (compared to the HD price, it equalled out to basically buy 2 get 1 free...) Plus they had a great green and purple.
the roughnecks are a little rubbery instead of just hard plastic, so if something hits them it doesn't break it just bends a little.
I know they're just storage containers, but they're the best i have found, and if you get them on sale, a bargain.
Arroyo,
I have huggable hanger knock offs from overstock.com. I love them, they are so much better than those ikea wooden hangers. They take up 1/3 the space of the ikea ones in my opinion and mine have hooks on them so you can hang another hanger on them and save space.
