In desperate need of a little eye candy and design inspiration yesterday, we ended up at Barnes & Noble. (Don't yell at us. We'd discovered that two of our favorite independent bookstores are in the process of remodeling, and we couldn't find parking near a third.) The design section held nothing new for us, but while browsing the remainder aisles, we found this great little book...
We snapped it up not merely because of its bargain price ($7.98?!), but because it's 143 pages full of lovely, inspirational photos we haven't seen before.

It's sad that we've reached the point where the AT bloggers have to post apologetic "don't yell at me because I don't shop solely at small local independently owned shops that sell are built out of cow dung and hemp."

i don't get the cody's thing...when they moved to 4th street they hardly had any books in that store and their design book inventory was crappy...also prices sucked....when they moved to downtown Berkeley it was sad and they only lasted for weeks.
I agree about Cody's fate, but it's not Barnes & Noble or Borders that are the culprits...it's that long trip down the famous river of South America that is sending independent bookstores out of business. That being said, Sabo Wills' book looks terrific.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a personal preference to support your local economy rather than send your money off to giant corporations. I prefer to shop independently owned stores when I can because frankly, I like being surprised.

Got the book. If I had a 2,000 square foot apt. with at least $250,000 to drop, the book would have been a great inspiration. Being that I am lacking the extra 1,000 square feet and my budget is about 1% of the $250,000, it really did me no good. Not really great on practical advice either...
