Shaw's Original Fir...
Not real creative, but in my daughter's room we use a dresser, a wardrobe, and a bookshelf to hold everything. It makes a smallish room feel even smaller to have all that furniture, but I like being able to close the doors/drawers on her stuff and have the room feel very tidy.
In my son's room, because he has less clothes and almost nothing that needs to be hung up, we were able to get away with just a dresser and a bookshelf, no wardrobe.
We live in an "antique" house (b. 1911), almost no closets to speak of, so we find that antique furniture fits our storage needs pretty well (in our bedroom too, not just the kids').
We don't have a closet in our girl's bedroom so we use shelves for their clothes - open shelves forces us to be neat!!! And behind the bedroom door we put a bathroom towel rail to store their dress collection... it works really well for us. You can see a photograph of it in the second picture of this post: http://www.se7en.org.za/2010/08/17/saturday-spot-se7ens-savvy-storage
We also have an "antique" house (love that) built in 1902 that have very little closet space. Our boys share a room without a closet and we have used metal shelves with big cloth baskets on them. They have very little to hang (boys) but we do have hooks on the back of their door. Not too original, but it has worked well for us.
Ha! I give that darling kid another month or two until all the clothes are on the floor every day. Nice idea, but completely impractical. What a cutie though - points there, ha!
I'm with the others who think that several of those ideas are totally impractical for any kid over 8 months or so! I have a 10 month old, a 2 year old, and a 3 year old. That stuff would be all over the floor in a flash!
I LOVE this picture, but the baby wouldn't even get a chance to pull the clothes down because I'd be too lazy to hang them up. I prefer the "stuff it in drawers" method.

Ha! Funny how we all had the same thought about that first picture.
We live in an old house, so the nursery has no closet. My husband actually refinished my mother's baby armoire from the 1950s to match our crib. It has 4 drawers on one side, a small closet on the other with a rod that pulls out so you can get at the hanging clothes more easily, and one big drawer on the bottom. Pair that with the changing table with open shelves (which we put baskets on) and a drawer under the crib, and we have plenty of storage.
We have no closets, either. For my daughter, I hunted up a short armoire on Craigslist - seriously the coolest thing, it's short and has drawers on one side and a hanging space on the other with a pull-out mirror and hidden cubbies. It was for men's clothes originally, not a child, and it's so neat. Massive, though, and dark - needs a light paint job. It's like a steamer trunk almost, I've seen more since then.
In our room, we bought modular Ikea wardrobes with the real wood doors and painted them white, across one side of our tiny bedroom. They have been far better than a regular closet.
My point being, the usability of armoire-wardrobe solutions is actually better than closets, in the experience we've gained.
I'm 100% for the doors though. My clothes, and the kid clothes too, aren't all in the same color family and hanging neatly pressed, ever.
