When living in an apartment or house where closet space is a luxury, you begin to get creative with storage solutions. Lockers can be a great out-of-the-way piece of furniture that add hidden storage and industrial flair to a home or office.
The orange lockers featured above were found by my brother at a local industrial plant liquidation auction. He has since built shelves into the lockers and stores lots of household items easily inside. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for some affordable lockers that I can keep on a side wall of my new apartment, out of the way, yet easily accessed.
Lockers can be such a great storage solution that also adds that unexpected visual element to a space!

I love industrial style!
I have a small metal cabinet of the Hungarian Society for river boats and I use this as a TV cabinet. I bought the cabinet on the Internet, http://loftdesign.hu/en/szekrenyek/kis-fem-szekreny/
We used box lockers from mailboxes.com in our kitchen in our last rental as a way of adding freestanding cabinets. Plus, they're ventilated, which made them good for onions and potatoes (though we mostly used them for dishes and glassware). They got lots of compliments.
I have been wanting to try this in my home for years. I first fell in love with the idea after seeing dark green lockers on Mandy Moore's characters house in Because I Said So.
I have those exact same orange lockers -- bought on Craigslist from an old factory in Chicago for $20 each. They look great in our entryway -- replaced the open hook system we had that always looked so messy. Love them!
Years ago we used vintage lockers in the mudroom of a home, still look fabulous. Love the orange lockers!
When I was a kid, we lived in Student Housing while my parents were in grad school. Very little free space, so when my dad was able to pick up 4 metal lockers, we put them in the hallway and everyone had their own space to put a few things.
