The humble rolling cart is the workhorse of furniture. It can be used in just about every room — kitchen, bath, laundry, office — and, since it's mobile, it can also travel. I rounded up nine carts that would be practical for myriad uses. Check out the details after the jump…

• Wrapping Cart from Crate & Barrel — Although marketed for use as a wrapping center, I think this cart could handy for storing crafts and office supplies as well. $149.95
• Green Luxor Utility Cart from Web Restaurant Store — This cute green cart takes me back to the audio visual department of my high school. (Yep, I was that nerd.) It would be perfect for printing supplies in an office or as microwave cart in the kitchen. $95.99
• Blue 3-Tier Grande Rolling Cart from The Container Store — This simple wire cart seems perfect for a pantry and would be equally at homein a laundry room. $34.99

• Ethan Metal Cabinet from Home Decorators Collection — With eight drawers, this industrial cart would be ideal for office supplies or even clothing. $459
• 20 Drawer Storage Cart from Target — Two words: craft supplies. Enough said. $105.99
• RÅSKOG Kitchen Cart from IKEA — It may have kitchen in its name, but this cute cart is ideal for office supplies, too. $49.99

• Galvanized Metal Floor Storage from Pottery Barn — This is the smallest of the carts on this list. With it's flat top, it could work as a rolling printer stand, with space below for paper, toner and other supplies. $149
• 3-Shelf Wooden Gavin Rolling Cart from World Market — I caught sight of this cart when I was shopping at World Market last weekend. It would be right at home with a vintage industrial aesthetic. $103.99
• Welded Shelf Cart from School Outfitters — This sizable cart would be great in a kitchen, perhaps as a mobile island, and also in an office or craft space. $197 - $332

What a great selection of carts. I don't know what it is but I have a weakness for furniture on casters. We even designed our platform bed around huge red casters.
Have you seen the Demco library book carts? Such a drool-worthy selection of colors!
ooh. the world market one would be great as a bar.
So in love with that IKEA cart!!!
I have the IKEA one & it is a dream for baby supplies to keep next to the changing table. As my son has gotten older & his diapering/bathing needs aren't as full-on, the bottom shelves are now great for holding puzzles & books that are safe to have within his reach. I love the blue color but I'm also tempted to go back for the dark grey option they also have, if only I had somewhere to use it ...
The wire rolling carts I've had in the past were all very flimsy.
I really love my Bygel rolling cart from Ikea, it looks like many of the mid-century carts I've seen in antique stores.
I have one like this where I store my stand mixer and food processor on the top shelf for mobility in the kitchen.
I think these carts are pretty cool ---- but really dont get the perfect use for a rolling cart. When do you need to roll your toiletries into another room? I'd rather have my items out of sight behind a cupboard instead of clutter.
I love my IKEA cart! I use it to hold my crafting supplies....and I need an excuse for another one; you know, for like ...more crafty stuff!
i love my IKEA cart too! I use it to hold glass jars with flours, spices, sweeteners, etc and I roll it to where I'm prepping food when I need it. It's extremely sturdy and the pop of color blends perfectly in my aqua and red kitchen.
I saw a cute one in a variety of colors on the Gold Violin catalog cover this week

I also love my IKEA cart! It's such a cute item to have in the kitchen! I use it as a tea/ coffee/beverage cart. It provides storage for my teapots, cups & saucers, french press and even my wine glasses. It displays these items nicely and frees up much needed space in my kitchen cabinets. I have the aqua one but I've been thinking of going back to get the dark grey one as well...I've also been eyeballing the Jayden metal storage cart in World Market. It has a cute industrial vibe to it.
I'm planning on putting an IKEA Raskog in our new baby's nursery. Excited to see it on your page and that you also agree it's not just for Kitchens :)
I have a Flytta from IKEA and it rocks. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00058487/
For those of you with the ikea one, is the middle shelf adjustable in height? I'd like to get one to use for liquor bottles.
Never-mind. Just read on the Ikea website that it is.... INTERESTING.
I am also kind of in love with that Ikea cart, but I'm not entirely sure what I'd use it for, ha. I was thinking about it for extra kitchen storage.
I can't believe everyone has the IKEA Raskog! I've been trying to get it for months, but it is never in, even when the website says it is. They must be having supply problems with it here in CA. From the reviews, it sounds awesome -- guess I'll keep trying!
These sell like hotcakes on Craigslist.
I use this this bright red tool cart as a bar cart in my living room. After a little styling-- lots of silver accents, a basket of lemons, a mint plant-- no one can tell it's meant for a garage!
@lwyrgrl1, I had a hard time with the Raskog here in Illinois, too! Until I rolled my preggo self up to a store employee and announced I was taking the floor model. ;-)
I agree its absolutely perfect as a diaper/nursing station. It wheels easily from my changing dresser to my rocking chair and I will continue to use it as a arts & crafts cart when my son gets bigger!
As the unhappy owner of the 10 drawer version of the rainbow cart from Target, I have to say buyer beware. It's flimsier than it looks. I can't wait to get rid of mine. I've used it to store lightweight items like hair accessories and makeup, yet the drawers keep slipping off the tracks and the metal finish on the plastic knobs keeps coming off.
