The fact that our apartment has zero closets may come off as modern and vaguely Scandinavian in the bedroom, say, but it's not as easy to make the contents of a utility closet look cool.
Our broom, mop and related paraphernalia would lean — and subsequently fall to the floor in an aggravating tangle — on a new wall every week until we found the Store 'n Slide. The footprint of its mounting hardware is limited to the length of the rack itself, rather than the length of the track, meaning it can slide past the edge of the wall, as we've done below.

We've found that it breaks the usual rule that if you can't see it, you won't use it. Since retrieval and storage of our cleaning tools are so much easier, we're actually motivated to sweep and mop more. Oh joy.
$20 at Container Store.

Ooooh, that's clever... I'm SO going to get one! Thanks for the neat tip!
Genius!
Very clever!
Warning. Don't put a damp mop up *behind* your fridge. I did that once and had to call the fire department. Very embarassing.
I love it! It's perfect for my closet-less space!
Oh, Store & Slide ... where have you been all my life?
I'm ordering one tonight. Thanks for the tip!
I think this will work great next to my fridge. Thank you for posting this.
i NEED this!
I neeeeeed it!
I need this desperately but moving my refrigerator or washer/dryer stack will be a nightmare.
Oh I need this! *adds to to-buy list*
Brilliant!!
Very cool, but make sure your mop is dry before you slide it back in!
This is a great idea. I have a beach home that's a weekly rental. Last year I put all the cleaning things in a closet only to find them next to the fridge at the end of the season. I guess that's a favorite spot. So I might as well make it a little more organized. Sometimes it's those little things that make a huge difference.
very cool idea, i have a utility closet and i still think this would make it so much easier to store them... i hate having to move brooms and mops and things to fit the vacuum in.
love this. we were just talking about how to mount the broom and mop away from little hands.
Thank you. Thank you! THANK YOU!
Where can I buy it?
Anyone tried it? Is the hardware easy to remove when you move out?
What if the handles of all the stuff (and the dust pan) hanging from it were painted one cool color?
(I have a funky sweeping brush with a leopard-print handle that I've been known to leave out because it's so tongue-in-cheek chic!)
Genius! And they ship to Canada! Hallelujah!
*checks upcoming-birthdays list.... starts thinking Christmas*
I used this behind my washer-dryer combo. LOVE IT!
