Strange Details in a New Home

Moving into a new place almost always presents a few design challenges. That's what we keep telling ourselves when we look at the spare bedroom that has two steps down into it. As of now, it looks nowhere near as charming as this bedroom…

Right now, it's a jarring experience to enter the room and look down on it from two steps up. We're still chewing on how to handle it, exactly. But this bedroom from Wren Design is a definite inspiration. Its simplicity, natural materials, and use of the stairs as an architectural detail in the space really give us something to look up to!
