Orange has finally won us over. It has long been a chic accent color in interior decorating and design, but we could never get over our association with it and Halloween, redoubled when black is anywhere in the vicinity. But we're finally over it, and Sunset has a few tips for getting the most out of the vibrant color, even in a calming reading nook.
Their advice: don't use too much of it, bring in elements from nature (like oranges), and incorporate the color in unexpected objects.

I never liked orange either until I got an orange cat and a pomegranate tree. It's growing on me.
Wow - I have that orange lacquer Japanese teapot...
I love this look, but can't tell if the walls are a bright white or something different. I have bright white walls and similar colored carpet to the picture above, so I would love to be able to re-create this look, without having to repaint. Are my eyes deceiving me?
A beautiful space! I love orange.
But, err.. I wish I had as much extra shelf space ... That is to say, a reading nook I envision has more books :)
I would love a reading nook, but my place is too small to accommodate one. Love that little orange table though.
Really lovely, not too overpowering, strong or 'mod'.
I love the chair in this photo - does anyone know where to find it - or something similar?
I love the idea ... I keep saying I want to make this corner of my family room a "cozy reading nook". I love to see what other people do to accomplish this. The chair in the picture above doesn't scream - come curl up in me, but it looks good in that space. Overall, great design, but I'd want something more cozy if I was going to truly use it as a reading nook.
