Because the bathroom gets so steamy, it isn't the greatest place to have wallpaper or even any framed bits of paper or artwork. So if painting the walls isn't your thing, try hanging a large scale piece of stretched canvas to add some visual interest to a small space.

We've mentioned adding color through the choice of shower curtains and here's another idea. We've been big fans of Textile Arts Marimekko Wall hangings for a long time and recently we ran across Modern Digital Canvas who specialize in printed canvas that come in a variety of sizes. We like the graphic styles best. A couple of our favorites, though we don't know how much we can commit to orange...

From the MD-Canvas.com FAQ page:
"Q: Is it waterproof?
A: No - You can't hang it in your shower..."

So it's probably not a great idea to hang these in steamy bathrooms in general.
agree with spossberg... can't help but think you could do the same thing with a good ruler, an art store canvas, and some acrylic paint.
i'm not understanding how canvas is more steam-proof than wallpaper. if anything, isn't it more porous?
There are many place on the web where you cn buy outdoor art. I assume this art will work just as well in the bathroom.
Here is one site:

Woops! My mistake, because these are printed onto each canvas and not sealed, they aren't safe for humid bathrooms, but a normal piece of fabric stretched over canvas would still work better than paper...And I do agree with spossberg that this would be a fun diy project!
what I love most about AT is that the very thing that's foremost on my mind at any given time inevitably shows up as a feature. luv.
hmm.... has anyone tried a cloth shower curtain in a frame? already waterproof....i might diy it and see how it turns out....
for some easy bathroom "art", i covered cheap canvases with fabric. they came out pretty well and only took about a half hour to do, and they held up well with the humidity.
... curious - none of the photos are of bathrooms ...
