We weren't surprised when we saw that The New York Times was doing a piece on college students in alternative living situations. Students know how to live small—they generally have little stuff, no spouses or children, and the freedom to try new things. Remember the Yale student in 8x18 feet of space?
Well, this slideshow at The New York Times features even more students who have ditched the dorms for alternative housing options.
Brett Butler is living in a tipi at Appalachian State University. Jake Weller is living in a dome he built for $2,300 at Juanita College in Pennsylvania. And Ann Holly and Darren Macca are living together in what they call the ProtoHaus (pictured above the jump) at Alfred University in upstate New York.
See all the tiny living spaces here.
We love the tipi. Which is your fave?
