Retail stores have been controlling their soundscapes for decades, playing classical music to make you overestimate quality and pop music to make you feel good. eBay commissioned a study to determine how sound affect shopping online as opposed to in-store. Birds chirping, for example, makes you more likely to purchase a barbecue.
