Every home has something to teach and each small home in the Small Cool contest holds lessons and tricks for living well while living small. Here is some wisdom from today's entries:

Keep Color Simple

(above) Keeping the color palette limited in a small space, especially a small, enclosed Airstream, helps keep the eye's focus on the design not the "stuff" of the home.

Cohesion

Even when her Murphy bed is open, matching the bedding and sofa cover makes it feel cohesive.

Height

If you have high ceilings, emphasize them by hanging curtains, textiles or art high up.

Scale

You don't always have to do without, you may just have to do smaller — like Lauren's cafe size dining table.

Go up

Having your bed out in the open isn't your only option. A lofted bed not only saves floor space, but can provide more privacy.

Drama

Using one big piece on the walls attracts the eye and makes the space feel bigger and grander.

Hide in plain sight

The clear acrylic table and chair set keep the room feeling light and airy, especially when they catch the light.
