My one-year anniversary is next month, but the only photo my husband and I have from our wedding is the wallet-sized one pinned to my office bulletin board. Our photographer, we found out too late, has major delivery issues. I never thought of myself as someone who’d hang a wedding portrait in her home. Now I can’t stop thinking about how much I long to have one.

I likened the aesthetic of my home to Pee Wee's Big Top situated in Candyland. Being a child of the late 70s, my biggest influences were cartoons and candy which have somehow shaped my personal design approach. 

Found items meet industrial pieces in this collected cool dining room from Neeza & Pierre's Wildly Unique Amsterdam Abode. Though we don't all live in the Netherlands with access to this couple's favorite thrift shops, we can recreate the vibe through local sellers and online retailers. 

As I mentioned in my first Design Diary post, my best friend Eleni is moving to from Boston to New York City. She's secured an apartment, but we have yet to see it in person. We have, however, seen a few pictures of the space, which provide just enough information to get my design wheels turning...

A morning rainstorm has given way to a warm and sunny afternoon in Richmond, and dappled sunlight shines through each one of Chris and Julie Peel's windows. Julie leads me on a quiet tour of their home while their 20-month-old son, Elliott, finishes his nap. 

On a humid Saturday around this time last year, I married my husband on an 330-acre organic farm in eastern Pennsylvania. (That's us above.) It poured for part of that day, but thanks to careful planning — and, you know, being really excited — I barely noticed.

Architect Renzo Piano unveiled Diogene, a tiny cabin built on the Vitra campus in Germany. The 42 square-foot micro home is named after the Greek goddess who rejected luxury and lived in a barrel. The small residence includes green features like solar panels, a rainwater collection system, and a biological toilet.

Q: I live in a 1926 brick home dubbed a "Mediterranean Eclectic" by the Tulsa Historical Preservation Commission. At some point a completely non period-appropriate Mid-Century Modern door was used to replace the original front door. We are getting ready to replace this door and could use some help.
