Believe it or not, this room is subtly decorated for Halloween. The decorations are so subtle, in fact, that you can't even really see them in this picture. After the jump, find out where these clever decorations are hiding…

The spooky halloween decorations are hiding in the lamp! By day, it's a beautifully unassuming lamp. At night, when the lamp is switched on, it's a Halloween themed shadow box!
I found this simple little Halloween decorating idea at House*Tweaking, a home decor blog that has recently become part of my daily internet bookmark rounds. The blogger, Dana, wanted a Halloween decorating project she could do with her sons that would still blend in with her gorgeous decor. She reports that her sons loved the project and I think she definitely succeeded in staying within the margins of respectably cute.
I could see this project working for practically any holiday. Use leaf and turkey shapes for Thanksgiving, snowflakes and angels for Christmas, or hearts for Valentine's Day. Or, for no reason whatsoever, cut out a message for a loved one ("I love you" maybe?) and then ask them to turn on the light!

White Enamel Flatwa...
And now, can you help us find Waldo?
hahaha!!
Love the idea of these little tweaks! Keep them coming.
This is very cute. I'd do it if I had any lamps like that.
I thought it was the vampire who couldn't be seen in the mirror above the sofa. Darn.
adorable! what a great way to decorate without looking like a haunted house vomited all over your living room.
LOL, ProfKD
I actually saw the bat wing in the lamp on the right in the original photo. This is cute!
i'm with princess fiona...what's the point of decorating for a crazy and tacky holiday like Halloween if you're sticking to "subtle"?
the idea itself is cute, just think it's sad that these are the only decorations for the holiday she's allowing.
Cute...but if you're going to decorate, wouldn't you want to be able to show it off all times of the day? This wouldn't be noticed unless it was a darkened room.
