Windows play a huge role in the overall look and feel of a room. They're not just functional architectural features so it's important to pay attention to not only how they're dressed but painted as well. Most believe traditional white paint is the way to go, but if you're looking for subtle sophistication — we suggest black.
Black frame windows are most popular on large panel windows but that doesn't necessarily mean the color wouldn't look equally as good on smaller windows. Black window frames add an unexpected source of drama and sophistication.
Thin frames or thick ones; it doesn't matter because the black is eye catching enough to make a statement without over powering the rest of the room and most certainly not the view. High rise, rowhome or loft — black frame windows are an option not to be overlooked!

I love the examples but I disagree about looking good on a small windows. But then everything looks good when you have high ceilings, amazing architectural detail, beautiful views outside, expensive furniture etc! (Envy) I have the stool in picture 5 and even it looks good in that kitchen.
i agree with ljgfromof. this post would've been a lot more on point if they showed "normal" windows in the common apartment that were painted white. i'd be more convinced if i was actually shown an example!
please someone tell me who the designer of the black leather sofa in the first pic is I am obsessed with it....thanks
I had a town house with Bauhaus Design operable windows with very high ceilings they were beautiful.
I agree that height or an expansion of windows really show black metal painted frames best.
Did some searching and came up with a couple examples of this look on "normal" windows:

I really like the look best on uncovered windows, which isn't practical for us given the location of our home. I sure do like it, though.
Also, the images I've found are of windows with muntins. I don't know how this would look on windows without that sort of detail.
I'm actually obsessed with this look!!
This may be the answer to my fifteen year dilemma about what to do with my three panel sliding doors and the porch right outside of them. Either paint all the metal black, and all the walls white, or just the porch frames. It's going up on Pinterest right now.
